A single-story hair salon turned three-story mixed-use building with eight apartments and a coffeeshop. We were able to salvage the original 1930s foundation and, with a little love and reinforcement, build up from it. The project achieve Efficiency Vermont’s High Performance track with R33 walls, R60 roof, 0.6 ACH50 air leakage, heat pumps as a primary heat source, triple pane windows, and mechanical ventilation throughout. As a result, tenants average $80/mo in total electricity, heat, and hot water expenses combined.
